Our website diagnostic report includes a full check of your website’s homepage, focusing on whether or not it meets both industry standards and applicable law. Where errors are found, we’ll point out what they are and where they can be found.

Who is it for?

The report is ideal for anyone who feels like their website isn’t performing as well as it could, any website that is more than 18 months old, or any website that was built by a friend or family member. Why?

What happens?

Once you instruct us to perform the diagnostic, we’ll look through the homepage of your website checking each of the things listed below. Once complete, we’ll email you the report directly, which you can then pass on to the existing designer. Your designer can use the report to identify errors and, in many cases, how to fix them.

Why stop with just the homepage?

A website’s homepage is the first page to be built in the vast majority of cases, and is usually then used as a template for the other pages.

Testing just this first page keeps costs down and once your designer knows how to fix one page, they can apply the same fixes throughout.

If your website consists of many pages that are vastly different from each other—such as this one—you may want to perform checks on more than one page. Contact us and we can discuss your options.

So, what do we check?

  1. The Equality Act 2010

The Disability Discrimination Act has recently been rolled into The Equality Act 2010 and states that all websites are required to make a reasonable effort for their content to be accessible to people with a disability, including blindness. Failing to comply with this law could mean heavy fines if a complaint is made.

  2. Build Quality

We’ll check the build quality of your website and whether the code used to create it is up to industry standards. Invalid code can cause problems such as increased loading times, visual quirks and accessibility issues for both people and search engines.

  3. Search Engine Optimisation

We’ll check for a basic level of Search Engine Optimisation on your website. A lack of optimisation, or poor optimisation, can make your website difficult to find in comparison to your competitors and in some cases can result in lost business.
